Terms of Service
Last updated October 26, 2026
Retrat is a private place to share photos with people you choose. By creating an account or using Retrat you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines.
Who runs Retrat
Retrat is a free personal project, run by Ernesto Cedeño, an individual developer in the Netherlands. It is not a company. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Ernesto Cedeño. You can reach us at support@retratapp.com.
Your account
- Keep your password to yourself; you’re responsible for your account.
- You must be at least 16, or older if your country requires it to use a service like Retrat on your own.
- Give accurate information, and don’t impersonate anyone.
Your photos
- You own what you post. You give us permission to store it, make the smaller copies Retrat shows, and show it to the people you share it with, only so Retrat can work. We also look at what is reported to us, to decide what to do about it.
- Only post photos you have the right to share, and respect the people in them.
- Each post is shown only to the audience you choose. When you delete a post, it disappears from Retrat and its stored files are erased.
Moments
- Photos you add to a moment are shown to everyone in it. If its host opens the moment to connections and you choose to share a photo beyond the moment, that photo also reaches the connections the moment is opened to.
- If you leave a moment, the photos you added stay in it until you remove them, which you can do at any time from Settings.
- If a moment’s host deletes their account, the moment passes to someone else in it, with everyone’s photos.
Limits
Retrat has limits on storage, monthly posts, drafts, circles, and invitations. You can see your usage in Settings.
Using Retrat fairly
Don’t:
- Use another member’s account, or try to get into one.
- Get around a block, a limit, or anything that keeps Retrat or its members safe.
- Copy what others share with you out of Retrat in bulk, or use bots or scripts on it.
- Send invitations, connection requests, or reports to harass or spam people.
Safety
- Retrat has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. The Community Guidelines say what that covers, and following them is a condition of using Retrat.
- You can report a post, a comment, a profile, or a moment, and you can mute or block anyone, at any time.
- We review every report. We remove content that breaks the guidelines, and we suspend or close the accounts responsible.
Ending your account, or Retrat
- You can deactivate or delete your account at any time. See how to delete your account.
- If we suspend or close your account, we’ll tell you why, unless the law or someone’s safety stops us. If you think we got it wrong, write to us.
- If Retrat ever closes, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before, where we can, so you have time to keep what matters to you.
No guarantees
Retrat is free and provided as it is. We work to keep it running and your photos safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available, free of errors, or never lose data. Keep your own copies of photos that matter to you.
Liability
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, or for lost data or content. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, and disputes go to the courts of the Netherlands. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protections your local laws give you, including the right to go to your own courts where they allow it. If something goes wrong, please write to us first, and we’ll try to sort it out.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you don’t agree with it, you can delete your account.
